Do You Know That Sacroiliac Disorders Can Cause Leg Pain in Fanwood?

Chiropractor Fanwood Explains How Sacroiliac Disorders Can Cause Leg Pain

Chiropractor Eric Chludzinski explains how the sacroiliac joint and your legs are one in one. The sacroiliac joint is formed by the sacrum (the triangular bone right below the lowest lumbar bones in your lower back) and the articulations of the pelvis. This makes up the sacral-iliac or SI joints on the right and left side.

Sacroiliac Joint Disorders can cause leg Pain. Sacroiliac joint (SIJ) disorders are a common cause of low back, buttock, and groin pain. Occasionally pain can even refer to the thigh and leg. As a result, SIJ disorders can be difficult to differentiate from lumbar spine disorders.

An examination of 100 patients with a confirmed SIJ disorder found that 60% of the participants had leg symptoms that included pain and/or a numbness/tingling sensation. Furthermore, pain was mainly detected in the back, buttock, groin, and thigh areas, while numbness/tingling was primarily detected in the lateral to posterior thigh and back of the calf.

The findings should help doctors to better diagnosis SIJ disorders.

Chiropractors in Fanwood are well versed in the diagnosis and treatment of SIJ disorders. Treatment usually includes adjustments of the spine and pelvis as well as physiotherapy modalities and exercise.
