Physically Demanding Work Can Lead to Facet Joint Degeneration in Fanwood

Facet joints are the joints in your spine that allow for flexibility, bending, and twisting.

As we age, the wear and tear of life can lead to degeneration of the facet joints, which can result in back pain. In this study, researchers compared MRIs taken from workers with physically demanding jobs and office workers and found that those with a physically demanding job (firefighters, in this case) had a greater risk for facet joint degeneration.
