Insurance Company To End Coverage For Common Opioid in Fanwood

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that more than 90 Americans die every day due to an opioid overdose.

Now, in an attempt to curb the current opioid abuse epidemic in Fanwood, Cigna insurance says it will no longer cover the majority of OxyContin prescriptions beginning in 2018.

Cigna Chief Pharmacy Officer Jon Maesner writes, "Our focus is on helping customers get the most value from their medications-this means obtaining effective pain relief while also guarding against opioid misuse."
