Automobile Accidents Associated with Neck Pain
Past research suggests that up to half of individuals who develop neck pain following a car accident will continue to experience such pain a year later. However, because neck pain is a common condition among the general population, it's unclear how much of that risk is due to the automobile collision versus other factors associated with its onset. A review of findings from seven studies found that for individuals with no history of neck pain, those who report cervical pain following a car accident have up to a 2.3-times increased risk for future neck pain.
