Higher Beta-Carotene Levels May Promote Longevity, Explained by Fanwood Chiropractor
The results of a 30-year study involving over 29,000 men suggest that individuals with higher beta-carotene serum levels may have a significantly reduced risk for death from cardiovascular disease, heart disease, stroke, cancer, respiratory disease, and diabetes mellitus.
The most common source of beta-carotene in the American diet is carrots; however, other dietary sources of beta-carotene include sweet potatoes, butternut squash, dark leafy greens, broccoli, red bell peppers, cantaloupe, lettuce, peas, and apricots.
