Chiropractor Fanwood Answers Can Manipulation Affect Strength?
Can Manipulation Affect Strength?
A recent study set out to determine the effect of spinal manipulation on strength and cortical drive (nerves concerned with voluntary movement) in the lower legs of eleven elite martial artists.
The results revealed that a single session of spinal manipulation increased muscle strength in the calf muscles for 30 minutes and heightened corticospinal excitability to the calves for at least 60 minutes.
The findings may have importance for both athletic performance and clinical rehabilitation.
