Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Affects Nerve Function In The Hands For Residents in Fanwood
While we normally associate carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) in Fanwood with symptoms like pain, numbness, and tingling in the affected hand, a new study finds that CTS can also impair the sense of touch.
In the study, researchers conducted temperature sensitivity tests on 81 CTS patients and 44 healthy controls and found that the hands of patients with severe CTS were less sensitive to detecting both hot and cold temperatures.
The researchers conclude, "These results support the growing body of evidence that carpal tunnel syndrome can affect small afferent fibers."
