According to a new study, patients with tension-type headaches have impaired muscle function in the neck and shoulders.

The study also found that both strength training and ergonomics/posture correction resulted in improvements in both neck and shoulder function in patients with tension-type headaches.

Further studies are needed to determine if normalization of muscle function in the neck and shoulders can reduce headache frequency and severity among tension-type headache sufferers.
