Neuropathic Pain Affects Chronic Back Sufferers in Fanwood
Neuropathic pain is pain caused by damage or disease affecting the somatosensory nervous system.
Symptoms often include burning or coldness, "pins and needles" sensations, numbness, and itching.
An analysis of questionnaire and examination findings concerning over 2,000 chronic low back pain patients revealed neuropathic pain affects about 2.8% of such patients.
The researchers identified the following predictors for low back pain of neuropathic origin: a history of lumbar surgery, abdominal, or pelvic surgery, and alcohol consumption.
The findings suggest that these parameters may help practitioners identify patients with chronic low back pain in Fanwood who are likely to develop neuropathic pain and aid in improving treatment outcomes.
