Factors for Pain Severity in Low Back Pain

A recent study investigated risk factors associated with pain severity among 1,046 patients in China with non-specific low back (NSLBP).

Questionnaires completed by the participants revealed that the severity of NSLBP is associated with lower levels of education, poor standards of living, heavy physical labor, long periods of driving, and a sedentary lifestyle.

Additionally, patients with recurrent NSLBP tended to have more severe pain.

The findings suggest that losing weight, limiting heavy physical work, reducing driving or riding time, and becoming more active may reduce the severity of NSLBP.
