Poor Fitness Associated with Weaker Brain Fiber, Greater Dementia Risk
Getting fit may be the key to brain health.
In this study, researchers found a link between lower fitness scores and a greater degree of white matter deterioration, which can lead to cognitive decline, including memory issues consistent with dementia.
Researcher Dr. Kan Ding adds, "This research supports the hypothesis that improving people's fitness may improve their brain health and slow down the aging process."
