Alert: Red Cross Issues Urgent Call for Blood!

The American Red Cross reports that blood and platelet donations in the United States are urgently needed due to a shortage of donations in the last two months.

According to the Red Cross, blood donations fell 21,000 units short of hospital needs during the months of September and October. Chris Hrouda, the president of Red Cross Blood Services, writes, "[The] Red Cross asks the American public for help.

As we head into the busy holiday season, we are facing a particularly challenging situation and need blood and platelet donors to replenish the blood supply for hospital patients counting on us."
