Time of Day May Affect Your Response to Exercise

Circadian rhythms are physical, mental, and behavioral changes that follow a daily cycle primarily driven by light and darkness. New research suggests that the body responds better to exercise when it's performed in the evenings than at other times during the day. Senior author Dr. Paolo Sassone-Corsi adds, "Previous studies from our lab have suggested that at least 50% of our metabolism is circadian, and 50% of the metabolites in our body oscillate based on the circadian cycle. It makes sense that exercise would be one of the things that's impacted."
