Chiropractor Fanwood Discusses Vitamin D & Ferritin Deficiencies Linked to Neck Pain
Vitamin D and Ferritin Deficiencies Linked to Neck Pain
Among a group of 108 patients at one hospital, those with chronic neck pain had significantly lower vitamin D and ferritin serum levels than participants without neck pain.
Ferritin is a protein in the blood that carries iron and oxygen to the cells, while vitamin D is produced by exposure to the sun and is involved in several cellular functions.
The research team concludes that a larger study is needed to determine the nature of the relationship between chronic neck pain and deficiencies of both vitamin D and ferritin.
