Chiropractor in Fanwood Provides Warning Signs of Heat Stroke
The body normally regulates your body temperature by sweating, but sometimes the body's temperature-control system can fall behind, resulting in damage to the brain and other organs if an optimal temperature is not restored quickly enough.
Individuals at the greatest risk of heat-stroke include infants and children up to four years old, people over 65, those who are overweight, and those on certain medications.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention adds that symptoms of heat stroke include: body temperature above 103 degrees F (39.4 degrees C); red, hot, and dry skin, and little or no sweating; a rapid, strong pulse; a throbbing headache; dizziness; nausea; confusion; and loss of consciousness.
