Youth Football Increases Odds of Brain Problems For Those in Fanwood Later In Life
Kids who start playing tackle football in Fanwood before the age of twelve appear to be at greater risk for mental and behavioral problems in adulthood.
In this study, researchers questioned 214 men who formerly played either high school, college, or professional football and no other organized sports.
Compared with those who began playing football at a later age, those who started before the age of twelve were 33% more likely to show signs of depression and about 28% more likely to have behavioral problems in adulthood.
Lead author Dr. Michael Alosco writes, "Research on the effects of football on the brain is now at a point where it cannot be ignored."
