Posture and Stress

Biomechanical stress, posture, and alignment play a crucial role in our overall health. The video discusses how alterations in these factors can cause severe pain, bone destruction, and nerve damage. Improving ergonomics and ensuring proper joint function can help minimize stress on the spinal system.

Posture and Stress

Transcripts:
(00:00) Posture and stress. The type of stress I’m talking about is biomechanical stress. Alterations in posture of the head, of the torso, of the hips, places stress on the bone and on the joints and affects the way the muscles work and can even get into the nerve and cause severe pain. Removing this stress allows the body to function properly and allows the body to heal properly.
(00:24) Alterations we’re talking about is from the frontal plane looking straight on and the sagittal plane from the side. Carrying your head forward, a shoulder that’s misaligned or unleveled, hips aligned, misaligned, excuse me, hips rotated, twisted, head rotation, head tilts, all these things place stress on the bone and on the joint and starts to break it down.
(00:47) Not only does it cause pain, but it causes destruction of the bone and can even get into the nerve like I mentioned earlier. The more stress on the bone, the longer it’s left there, the bigger a problem it becomes. It’s important that you improve your posture through making sure the joints are functioning properly and making sure your alignment is at its best.
(01:10) Things like improving your ergonomics at work, at home, during sleep will help to minimize stress on your spinal system and will allow your body to function at its best and heal at its best.
