Why does your pain come and go? This is
a question I get asked all the time. The
answer is and always will be stress.
People don’t realize it, but there’s
different types of stress. Obviously,
there’s mechanical stress on your
joints, on your spine, on your muscles,
poor postural habits, stress from old
injuries, traumas. Uh all those things
add up over time. And if you sleep the
wrong way, you lift a box the wrong way,
it could cause a trigger, create
inflammation, and create pain. That’s
mechanical stress. There’s also mental
stress. What are we worrying about? What
are we thinking about? Are we worrying
about our children, our spouse, um our
significant other, our job, uh money,
when’s how are we going to be able to
afford everything? Then there’s
emotional stress. we have uh the passing
of a loved one, um somebody’s sick and
it’s just weighing on you. There’s also
chemical stress, what we put in our
body. People don’t realize this, but
chemical stresses can create pain as
well. Uh are we drinking enough water?
Are we eating foods uh that are
anti-inflammatory rather than
pro-inflammatory that are producing more
chemicals in the body to cause pain? And
here’s the deal. With each one of these
stresses,
they could feed off each other. In other
words, you ever notice when you’re
really stressed about something as far
as emotionally or mentally that your
shoulders, your neck feel tight, you get
a headache. That’s what happens. It
carries over because there’s
interchangeability between these
systems. So, mechanical stress can
manifest as emotional stress and vice
versa. And with the other stresses as
well, the best thing we can do is
control what we can control. We manage
the stress the best we can by having a
good diet, by taking the right vitamins
and minerals, by drinking enough water,
by making sure that we’re getting enough
rest, enough sunlight, exercising,
moving our bodies, making sure that our
spinal column from a chiropractic
standpoint is functional, that there’s
no restrictions in the joints, and it’s
at its best position possible to optim
optimize performance. All these things
will add up, like I said before, and
help to minimize and control your stress
levels. If you’re dealing with a a
