do you ever get numbness or tingling or
pins and needles or feels like your hand
or fingers are falling asleep either in
the fingertips in the fingers through
the wrist or even up the arm a lot of
times this can be a result of a pinched
or irritated
nerve sometimes it’s in the neck
restricted muscles a bone out of place
restricted joints can irritate and
inflame some of the nerve tissue as it
runs down to the arm or hand you have a
bundle of nerves that run from the neck
through the Shoulder Through the elbow
and into the hand and depending upon
where the actual numbness and tingling
is we can relate that back to different
parts of the neck now sometimes the
problem can be exclusively in the wrist
and typically we see patients when they
have uh numb or tingling just in the
tips or in the fingers and it doesn’t go
past the wrist there’s nerves that run
through What’s called the carpal tunnel
here and in this tunnel it’s very tight
there’s tendons there’s nerves there’s
blood vessels and when it becomes
inflamed from repetitive overuse like
playing the guitar typing a lot uh doing
a lot of things with your hands find
motor skills it can inflame those nerves
and cause irritation from the
overuse sometimes like I said it’s in
the neck when we when a patient comes
into my office we check the whole area
we start with an x-ray of the neck see
if everything’s okay there we do some
tests on the neck on the shoulder on the
wrist to see specifically where the
irritation of that nerve can be remove
that restriction give the body the
opportunity to heal and voila the
patient feels better nine times out of
10 this can be taken care of fairly
quickly in the office and those symptoms
can go away um in in pretty rapid rapid
rates if you’re experiencing any of
these symptoms don’t hesitate the longer
it’s left like that the harder it is to
correct we want to make sure that we
take care of this as quickly as possible
again this is an alarm your body’s
telling if something’s wrong you need to
get it addressed do not ignore
it
